July 2011 - I have always been a passionate photographer, and it is my hope that this album reflects just that! Solely, nature is my favorite subject and is also where I find inspiration for my other projects. Hence, picturing it has become a very important part of my life. The photographs are a selection of my best works from all over the world, all taken from the same principles of purity and no human intervention. As I take new pictures, this section will be updated and moved to the front of the portfolio.

The Interhuman Union
Taking its starting point in the movement of people from across the world for whom traveling and working from place to place has become a way of life, this project created at School of Design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University seeks to embrace and accommodate this new modern nomadic lifestyle through the formation of a new nation that provides its citizens with globally recognized professional residency.
Aside from this core offering, IU also cares for four other vital aspects of its citizens lives focusing on making their nomadic lifestyles as smooth as possible. The first aspect is naturally economy, where IU provides globally secure banking pension and taxation. Like any other nation, citizens pay an amount of tax to cover all societal expenses they might generate. In this way, IU citizens only contribute positively to the economies of their countries of residence through the value of the work they perform.
In the tax also an all round insurance is included, which caters for the vitality of IU citizens by giving them globally autonomous healthcare and social security. This comes in the form of a globally recognized IU Vitality Card which serves as proof of coverage wherever citizens choose to go for treatment.
As an immensely important aspect of a nomadic lifestyle, IU also provides unlimited connectivity by offering its citizens a globally covering cloud computing and communications network simply paid for through the tax paid to IU. This connects to the last aspect of IU which is a virtual community offering a forum for citizens to meet and share knowledge and experiences - all backed by personal citizen service just a message or call away. Like any other nation, IU will host its own domain, .iu, which citizens are also eligible to use for personal and business purposes.
The name ‘The Interhuman Union’ is derived from ‘inter’, which translates to ‘from earth’ and ‘human’ which is the description of our distinct species - in other words, ‘the union of humans from earth’. If we were ever to have any alien contact, this is intended to be a suitable representation for our species and planet. Essentially, we are all just brothers and sisters from the same place.
In terms of implementation, the first step to form IU is to go through the UN. Currently, only countries can issue passports and since IU is a nation without a territory, this is something that has to be challenged. This project suggests for IU to take physical form as a ship - a sort of mobile territory - which can then travel from place to place just like its citizens.
Aside from housing the administration and potentially function as a place of physical address for citizens, an important aspect of the ship is to serve as a place of birth for parents wishing to bring up their children with a purely interhuman nationality. In that way, the only thing that really matters is what you do, how well you do it, and then of course where you choose to do it. The opportunities are endless.

JHS Font
During the summer, I started sketching on a font act as graphic identity for my own name. In the beginning the process was completely analog although eventually, the ideas were digitalized. I wanted to combine the traditional arts of font creation with a very modern set of notes to create a contrasting look suitable for the very diverse range of projects in my portfolio. Secondly, I worked with a high degree of ornamentation strictly ruled by a dominating matrix, in which the forms of all the letters can be fitted. One specific point is that the font only makes use of one slope, whereas most fonts make use of two or more. The final name logo exists in two forms; a horizontal and a stacked vertical.

The OASIS
Initially, this project was a group work revolved around the creation of a concept proposal for a recreational pavilion on a site in Copenhagen. For the first part of the project, I worked with Iris Osk Egilson, Nanna Færgemann and Natasja Jankowski although we kept a close collaboration as we eventually branched out into different aspects of the project.
The project was a part of our bachelor's studies at Department 11 at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture tutored by Anne-Marie Kruse, Tom Mose and Karina Mose. A special thanks to Per Hebsgaard, who provided us with important insights about the structural and artistic values of the glass I used for my individual part of the project.
We chose to work with the famed site, Jagtvej 69, as the location for our pavilion, although the concept was developed to be mobile and moveable to other empty sites in the city. Implementing Jean Nouvel's famous sound glass screen concepts with 9 prism concrete pavilions on a modular tile underlay, the pavilion is simply a place for people to come and take a break from the city around it.
As the project turned individual, I worked with the major sections as well as the design of the glass screen and the graphic identity of the pavilion space. The screen is designed as an auditive and visual filter that lets visitors travel from the noisy city towards the quiet pavilion space behind. The graphic identity includes the name, The Oasis, and a subtitle in 7 major languages, and featured as a leaf like pattern on the screen, it sends a clear message that the pavilion is just in fact always open to everyone. Cardiothoracic Center & Cafe
This project is a proposal for a cardiothoracic information center and cafe for the Danish Heart Association. It was developed as a part of my bachelor's studies at Department 11, The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture and tutored by Anne-Marie Kruse and Tom Mose.
The center is situated in an old building on Kultorvet in Copenhagen and seeks to draw people from the street into the center and guide them through a visual display of cardiothoracic information combined with an open kitchen showcasing the preparation of healthy and heart friendly food, which is then served in the second level cafe that terminates the spatial course.
Architecturally, the concept is to clear the existing space and then insert the new and futuristic interior as a contrast to the old setting. This idea refers to the design of the graphic identity which was also a part of the project and includes the computer based font, OCRA, and the elegant french classic, Didot. Ultimately, the project was sought constructed through sustainable technology which included an analysis of the daylight entering the interior space.
